TOBAM strengthens team with senior appointments

Dr Tatjana Puhan appointed to Executive Committee

Axel Cabrol, CFA is appointed TOBAM’s Head of Fixed Income

Dr Puhan was appointed Deputy CIO in January 2020 to lead TOBAM’s investment teams and contribute to the development of TOBAM’s established Maximum Diversification® strategies across equities, multi-asset and fixed income asset classes. She joined the business from Swiss Life Asset Managers where she was Head of Equity and Asset Allocation.

In his new capacity, Mr Cabrol will lead the team managing TOBAM’s Anti-Benchmark Global High Yield and Anti-Benchmark Global Investment Grade strategies, seconded by Amine Aoun and Mathieu Woll. Mr Cabrol joined the business in 2016 as Deputy Head of Fixed Income. In this role he was instrumental in developing and launching the Anti-Benchmark Global High Yield strategy which in March reached its three-year anniversary. The strategy will continue to be team-managed according to the quantitative Maximum Diversification approach.

Also, the Fixed Income team will have the continued support of TOBAM’s research team, co-headed by Tristan Froidure (Co-head of Research) and Tatjana Puhan (Deputy CIO).


Dr Tatjana Puhan has more than 15 years’ investment experience, also brings a strong academic and research background. She joined TOBAM from Swiss Life Asset Managers where she was Head of Equity and Asset Allocation. In this role, she was responsible for a number of the company’s flagship strategies, most notably its investment solutions utilising systematic and proprietary quantitative approaches, as well as contributing to Swiss Life Asset Managers’ asset allocation and equity research initiatives.

Mr Axel Cabrol has over 21 years’ experience, having joined TOBAM from Butler Investment Advisory where he co-managed the WB Opportunities Fund, a long-short credit fund invested in European corporate High Yield bonds. Prior to this, he spent two years at Barep AM, and three years at Caisse des Depots (CDC). He holds a degree from ENSAE in Statistics, Actuarial studies, Finance, and Artificial Intelligence, and a post-graduate degree in Statistics (with high distinction) from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI.
