TOBAM's Executive Committee

TOBAM comprised some 51 professionals, from 16 different nationalities based across financial hubs in europe, asia and north america. TOBAM’s executive committee meets every month and is charge of overseeing strategic as well as operational activities.

Yves Choueifaty
Founder, President and CIO of TOBAM

 

Yves Choueifaty is a Mathematician and the Former CEO of Credit Lyonnais Asset Management (“CLAM”, AUM €70B). 

Having spent more than 10 years with CLAM in diverse senior roles (CIO, Head of Financial Engineering and Quantitative Investment Management), Mr Choueifaty left in 2004, went back to Mathematics research and founded the Maximum Diversification® approach and TOBAM in 2005. 

As one of the pioneers of the smart beta movement, Yves Choueifaty is a frequent speaker at conferences and is a member of The 300 Club (17 members throughout the world), whose mission is to raise awareness about the potential impact of current market thinking and behaviours). 

Mr. Choueifaty graduated in 1992 from ENSAE (leading French Engineering School) in Statistics, Actuarial studies, Finance, and Artificial Intelligence.

David Bellaiche
Chief Operating Officer

 

David is the Chief Operating Officer of TOBAM since 2013. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of TOBAM Ireland since the opening of the office in 2016. David worked as Head of Portfolio Management at TOBAM from September 2008 to January 2013 after joining the team as Portfolio Manager in July 2006. 

Before joining TOBAM, David worked within the arbitrage and convertible Bonds team at Amundi in Paris. Prior to this position, he headed the Amundi quantitative analytics and technology team which consisted of 60 engineers and programmers. During the merger between Credit Lyonnais Asset Management (“CLAM”) and CAAM which formed Amundi, David led transition of this team between the companies. 

Before starting in CLAM in 2000 as the Head of IT Research and Development, he was Head of client service at Sungard. David received his Diploma of Engineering from ENAC, Toulouse, France in 1997.

Christophe Roehri
Deputy CEO, Head of Business Development

 

 

Mr Roehri joined the team in 2009 from Fortis Investments, where he was in charge of French institutional investors, after spending 3 years at Amundi (previously Credit Agricole Asset Management), developing the institutional client base in Paris. 

Prior to his European-based roles, Mr. Roehri held different positions for Credit Lyonnais, both in the USA (1999-2003), where he was developing the bank’s corporate banking activities from New York, and in Asia (1997-1999), where he was involved in corporate finance and leveraged loans for Asian-based subsidiaries of European corporates. 

Mr. Roehri graduated in 1997 from EM Lyon Business School, with a major in Finance.

Tatjana Puhan
Head of Investments, Co-Head of Research

As Head of Investments, Tatjana Puhan is responsible for the management of all research and product creation-related projects, ensuring the consistency and application of TOBAM’s patented investment process. In her role, Tatjana is co-Head of Research and Portfolio Management as well as managing the trading teams based in Paris and Dublin.

Tatjana joined TOBAM from Swiss Life Asset Managers where she was Head of Equity and Asset Allocation for Third Party Asset Management. 

She has more than 15 years’ investment experience while also bringing a strong academic and research background.

Tatjana holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Hamburg, and gained her Ph.D. in Finance from the Swiss Financial Institute at the University of Zurich, with research fellow appointments at the University of Zurich, Kellogg Business School (Northwestern University) and the University of Hamburg. She is a lecturer in finance at the University of Mannheim and an associated researcher of the Hamburg Financial Research Center.

Tristan Froidure
Co-Head of Research

 

 

Mr. Froidure joined the team in April 2007 from Lehman Brothers International (Europe) Capital Markets where he was responsible for devising systematic, quantitative strategies applicable to options. 

Prior to that, he was senior portfolio manager at LibertyView for 7 years, a Lehman Brothers-owned Hedge Fund based in the United States where he was head of international trading, and co-responsible for launching and managing LibertyView’s Global Volatility Fund, a $350 million Hedge Fund. 

Mr. Froidure received his diploma of Engineering with a Non-Linear Mechanics major from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon in 1996, and received his MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2005.
